„Now our interaction will be organized on a new level”
The Russian Federal Bar Association has received the status of a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) base organization in the field of legal profession
On October 7, at a regular meeting held in Moscow, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS approved new base organizations - in the fields of legal profession, security, media, and the development of the volunteer movement. The initiative to grant the RFBA the status of a base organization in the field of legal profession belongs to the Russian Federation. Commenting on this event, the President of the RFBA, Svetlana Volodina, reported on the constant interest of the RFBA in the development of the legal professions in other countries and their experience. „Now our interaction will be organized at a new level,” she is convinced.
The main activities of base organizations include the training, retraining, and advanced training of specialists from the CIS member states in various areas of cooperation, joint scientific research by interested CIS member states, the development of recommendations for the harmonization and unification of the regulatory framework, the preparation of relevant projects, the exchange of regulatory legal acts, the holding of international scientific and practical conferences, seminars and symposia, the preparation of scientific, methodological, informational and analytical materials, etc. The activities of base organizations are carried out in cooperation with the sectoral cooperation bodies and other CIS bodies, the governing bodies of the member states, and the Executive Committee of the CIS.
Svetlana Volodina called it a great honor that the RFBA has become a base organization for the CIS member states on issues of cooperation in the field of legal profession. „But at the same time, a great responsibility is placed on us, since this is not just a status, it is a direction of movement. We have common goals, ideas about our profession - we want to provide qualified legal assistance. And it has always been important and interesting for us to know how the legal professions are developing in other countries, what experience has been gained there. We compare, look for patterns of problems and successes with one goal - we want to move forward. Now our interaction will be organized at a new level. In the near future, already in November, we plan to hold the first meetings,” said the RFBA President.
